Job Title: Human Resources Manager I

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager I to join our team at Sacramento County, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a human resources program that includes recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, safety, training, organizational development, equal employment opportunity programs, and labor relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a human resources program that includes recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, safety, training, organizational development, equal employment opportunity programs, and labor relations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to human resources management.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on human resources-related matters.
  • Conduct investigations and resolve grievances and complaints.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing laws and regulations related to human resources management.

Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in Sacramento County service in the class of Senior Personnel Analyst or Labor Relations Representative.
  • Four years of experience in a human resources or labor relations office performing professional analytical or managerial human resources or employee relations duties, including a minimum of one year experience in discipline, grievance investigation, arbitration, or labor negotiations.
  • A bachelor's degree in public or business administration, human resources management, organizational development, or industrial psychology from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business or public administration, personnel administration, personnel management, psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional certifications such as PHR, PHR-CA, SHRM-CP, IPMA-CP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-SCP, or other relevant certifications.
