Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst for Clinical Research serves as the main liaison within the Clinical Trials Office, overseeing the flow of funds and ensuring precision in financial reporting. This role collaborates closely with the finance department and the Office of Clinical Research to uphold compliance and provide essential technical, fiscal, and administrative support for cancer clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor revenue from clinical trials to ensure accurate accounting and appropriate fund utilization.
  • Assist in the monthly billing and invoicing processes for funded clinical trials, ensuring financial data is accurate and aligns with study budgets.
  • Track outstanding invoices and collections to minimize accounts receivable.
  • Interpret financial requirements and billable services on clinical trial protocols through Coverage Analysis and budget negotiations with sponsors.
  • Collaborate with research sponsors to establish budgets that cover costs and comply with federal regulations.
  • Input event schedules, budgets, and billing plans into the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) to maintain billing compliance.
  • Coordinate the budget process with team members to ensure timely and compliant execution of clinical trial agreements.
  • Assist investigators in resolving billing issues related to research.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of clinical research finance projects by defining goals and required tasks.
  • Support the creation and ongoing updates of the Procedures Manual for financial management.
  • Facilitate new employee orientation regarding financial study management.
  • Maintain organized storage of clinical trial contracts.
  • Engage in budget negotiations with sponsors, advocating for appropriate funding while maintaining competitive standards.
  • Comprehend treatment plans and patient participation requirements to effectively communicate with principal investigators and sponsor representatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, related to the position.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 5 years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with clinical trial management systems is highly desirable.
