Position Overview:

The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service by welcoming patients, gathering their information and payments, scheduling appointments, and managing medical records.

Responsibilities may vary based on the layout and size of the AON office.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) and billing systems for new and hospital consult patients.
  • Accurately communicate hospital consults to the relevant physician.
  • Manage physician requests regarding schedule modifications and patient appointments.
  • Ensure adherence to physician preferences regarding patient scheduling, including maximum patient loads and appointment gaps.
  • Efficiently check-in patients according to clinic protocols, collect payments, and verify that demographic information is current.
  • Prepare and generate reports in line with AON and clinic protocols to guarantee timely and accurate patient care.
  • Schedule patient appointments, including follow-ups and referrals, in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily financial deposits and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Manage incoming faxes and distribute them appropriately.
  • Collect and verify patient identification and insurance information.
  • Handle telephone inquiries promptly and relay messages as necessary.
  • Contact patients who miss appointments to reschedule and document the reasons for missed visits.
  • Assist with the management of medical records and ensure compliance with all regulations.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma; Associate's degree preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of one year in a healthcare setting, preferably in a physician's office. Strong focus on patient/customer service, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities are essential.

Work Environment:
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant regulations and policies. Flexibility to work at various AON locations as needed.
