Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Manager with expertise in the construction sector to enhance our Internal Audit division. This position offers flexibility, allowing for remote work options.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and adhere to engagement methodologies, ensuring quality service delivery.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and strategic goals to effectively apply this knowledge during engagements.
  • Conduct interviews with relevant personnel to gather necessary information.
  • Collect, assess, and interpret financial and operational data.
  • Evaluate cost data, including contractor payment applications and change orders.
  • Review project authorization processes, competitive bidding, cost controls, contractor billing, job cost systems, labor rate calculations, and related financial assessments.
  • Identify potential issues and non-compliance with established policies, procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Prepare working papers, document findings, and engage in discussions with management regarding outcomes.
  • Provide clear and concise documentation of work performed, issues identified, and observations made, utilizing both oral and written communication.
  • Deliver project updates to supervisors and prepare comprehensive audit reports outlining identified weaknesses and suggested resolutions.
  • Assist in creating detailed expert reports for forensic reviews requiring expert testimony.
  • Support the development of benchmarking data to compare processes and performance metrics across various organizations.
  • Collaborate closely with staff to swiftly address client concerns.
  • Complete assigned projects while maintaining an appropriate level of utilization.
  • Uphold the highest professional standards and ensure strict client confidentiality.
  • Stay informed about current trends in construction accounting, auditing, and internal controls.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in risk consulting or professional audit services within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Familiarity with the construction audit project lifecycle from inception to completion.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Understanding of construction scheduling, claims, project management, and operational assessments.
  • Proficient in systems related to construction operations and financial management, including accounting, labor, purchasing, estimating, and timekeeping systems.
  • General accounting experience in the construction sector, with a solid grasp of construction terminology and financial statement structures.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Thorough understanding of construction contract terms and conditions.
  • Capability to interpret contracts and legal documents, summarizing key construction terms and clauses.
  • Experience in a managerial role, overseeing and mentoring staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to innovate in situations with limited initial information.
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize tasks, and complete projects independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and construction accounting software such as Yardi and ProCore.
