Position Overview:

The Radiation Therapist operates under the general oversight of a Radiation Oncologist, delivering radiation therapy services to both outpatient and inpatient populations as directed by a physician or licensed provider, adhering to established protocols for the diagnosis of medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers high-quality radiation therapy procedures in accordance with established protocols, ensuring timely execution.
  • Maintains the integrity and quality of imaging procedures by adhering to established standards and protocols.
  • Employs effective communication techniques to engage with patients, ensuring their service needs are met and establishing a rapport.
  • Educates patients and their families about the procedures, assessing their capacity to undergo the examination.
  • Prepares the patient and treatment area by accurately positioning the patient, adjusting immobilization devices, and configuring equipment settings.
  • Ensures safety for patients and staff by following infection control, drug, and radiation safety policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes sterile techniques during invasive procedures and upholds hand hygiene standards.
  • Maintains equipment and workspace to meet cleanliness and quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborates with engineers and physicists to optimize equipment functionality, reporting any issues to management.
  • Assists in managing inventory of supplies.
  • Conducts screenings to ensure safety for individuals entering the department, following approved policies.
  • Collects, verifies, and maintains all necessary documentation, including patient history and consent forms.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in accordance with departmental policies for timely interpretation.

  • Ability to perform radiation therapy procedures efficiently and accurately.
  • Capable of explaining procedures clearly to patients, alleviating their concerns.
  • Demonstrates compliance with regulatory standards and policies while delivering services.
  • Independently performs tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Maintains composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
  • Competent in administering first aid and utilizing emergency equipment.
  • Strives for customer satisfaction by minimizing wait times and providing courteous service.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills relevant to patient care across various age groups.
  • Serves as a mentor to new team members, providing training on procedures and services.
  • Available for on-call duties as necessary.

  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

    ARRT-T Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T): Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) is required.
