Job Overview

The Department of Physics at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in observational astrophysics. The successful candidate will work with Professor Matthew Bayliss, who leads a research group focused on gravitational lensing by massive galaxy groups and clusters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research projects on topics related to gravitational lensing, including multi-wavelength studies of the interstellar medium, stellar populations, and the production and escape of ionizing photons in distant, highly magnified galaxies.
  • Analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
  • Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research results.
  • Train, teach techniques to, and mentor junior researchers.
  • Establish and manage collaborations with other research groups.
  • Stay informed of developments in the field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
Requirements

Prior to the effective date of appointment, the candidate must have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field.
