About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our Substrate Authentication team at Microsoft Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying secure and reliable authentication and authorization solutions for our cloud-based services.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, and security engineers, to ensure that our solutions meet the highest standards of quality and security. You will also be responsible for mentoring and leading other engineers to produce high-quality, maintainable code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop secure and reliable authentication and authorization solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solution quality and security
  • Mentor and lead other engineers to produce high-quality, maintainable code
  • Optimize, debug, and refactor code to improve performance and maintainability

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • Experience with design and implementation of enterprise-scale services
  • Working knowledge of Distributed Systems and Cloud Technologies
  • Working knowledge of authentication protocols, security, and identity concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 10+ years of technical engineering experience
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience
  • Proficient development and unit testing in C#/C++
  • Experience as an engineering manager or technical lead with a passion for coaching and mentoring others
