Job Summary

This part-time position provides temporary security and supervision for students and facilities at Thornton Fractional Township High School District 215. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise students in hallways, restrooms, and cafeteria
  • Perform hallway sweeps of tardy students and supervise excessively tardy students
  • Conduct student searches and locker searches when necessary
  • Escort students and visitors through the building
  • Remove students from classrooms when requested by teachers
  • Conduct mediations and restorative circles at the request of students, deans, or other staff
  • Log student infractions, referrals, and mediations in the Student Information System
  • De-escalate student conflicts and break up physical altercations between students
  • Assist deans with paperwork for minor infractions
  • Provide front desk security and screen incoming visitors
  • Refer students to counselor and social worker as necessary
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of office machines/equipment
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality on student matters
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain courtesy and professionalism with colleagues, parents, students, and other visitors
