Job Title: Medical Assistant, Pediatrics

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our Pediatrics team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care services under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, mid-level provider, or physician.
  • Assist with various procedures, including checking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and collecting specimens.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as sending and receiving patient medical records, completing forms, and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, including setting up instruments and equipment, and restocking supplies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a certified program for Medical Assistants.
  • Current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
  • Phlebotomy training and license, if required by practice.
  • Minimum of one year of recent experience working in a medical office or facility.
  • Experience with practice specialty.
  • Able to partner with teams in small to large practice groups.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Considerable skill in communicating verbally, determining priorities, and in organizing work.
  • General working knowledge of PC: Excel, Microsoft Word for Windows, and EPIC.
  • Computerized appointment scheduling experience.
  • Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Considerable skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact, and courtesy.
