LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAM
Students at Avenues will graduate with fluency in a second language and the confidence to navigate diverse cultural landscapes. In grades N-5, students alternate their days between English and Spanish or English and Chinese instruction.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Bilingual Early Childhood Educator, you will collaborate closely with Early Learning Center teachers to design and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based curricula and activities for children aged 3-5. Your role will involve helping students enhance their comprehension and oral language skills in Spanish, Chinese, and English. You will also lead engaging activities that promote cognitive and socio-emotional development. This position offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates interested in bilingual education to gain valuable teaching experience, with the potential to apply for an associate teacher position upon completion of the program. You will be part of a vibrant and diverse faculty community and engage in ongoing professional development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating a supportive learning environment that encourages students to appreciate their school experience and feel part of a joyful community.
- Collaborating intensively with colleagues to continuously enhance student learning and school culture.
- Building trust and confidence among parents and families.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full professional fluency in Spanish and English.
- Experience working with nursery-aged children is preferred.
- A strong interest in pursuing a career in early childhood education; candidates pursuing a master's degree in early childhood or bilingual education are highly preferred.
- A willingness to reflect, accept feedback, and grow in teaching practice.
- Experience in small group instruction is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree is required.
