Job Summary

The State of California is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at the North Kern State Prison. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs for patients within our correctional facilities. Your primary goal will be to promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our patients through recreational activities and therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for patients, including individual and group activities
  • Assess patient needs and develop treatment plans to meet those needs
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to share information and incorporate recreational therapy into treatment plans
  • Monitor and document patient progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field
  • Current certification or eligibility for certification as a Recreation Therapist by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in recreation therapy or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
