POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the guidance of the Group Sales or Department Manager, the Team Lead provides daily oversight to team members in a designated department within the store. Responsibilities include managing merchandise presentation, inventory oversight, pricing strategies, sales initiatives, restocking, and enhancing customer service experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Group Sales Manager (GSM) or Department Manager (DM) in reaching departmental sales targets, gross margin goals, inventory shrinkage control, and payroll objectives.
  • Directs daily activities of department associates.
  • Creates and manages task lists for efficient workflow.
  • Implements all merchandising directives, including maintaining plan-o-grams as established by corporate guidelines.
  • Ensures a welcoming and efficient shopping experience for all customers.
  • Collaborates with the GSM/DM and Human Resources Manager to recruit service-oriented associates; participates in the hiring process and training coordination; provides input on performance evaluations; prepares weekly schedules; and motivates team members to foster positive customer relations and a collaborative work environment.
  • Addresses customer and associate concerns in partnership with the GSM/DM and HR Manager.
  • Maintains exceptional personal customer service standards, striving for results that exceed company averages.
  • Stays informed on product knowledge through ongoing training and conducts product demonstrations for staff.
  • Assists the GSM/DM with organizing special events, ensuring pricing accuracy, inventory integrity, and proper display of advertised items.
  • Supports the GSM/DM in executing supervisory responsibilities in line with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, work assignment, performance evaluation, and maintaining a positive workplace.
  • Delivers an outstanding customer experience by helping customers make informed purchasing decisions through:
    • Identifying and assessing customer needs,
    • Providing tailored product recommendations,
    • Promoting various programs, including membership and in-store services.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years in retail sales; supervisory experience is advantageous.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to perform calculations related to discounts, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to analyze reports effectively.
  • Strong presentation skills to communicate with managers, associates, customers, and the public.
  • Proficient in conducting meetings and presentations.
  • Competence in PC-based applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with coworkers, customers, and corporate staff.
