Position Summary

The Equipment Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing preventive maintenance, diagnosing issues, and repairing machinery within the facility. This role is crucial for the organization's success, acting as the equipment authority. Familiarity with Horizontal Flow Wrappers and Cartoning Machines is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize OEM resources to enhance understanding of facility machinery, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and established schedules.
  • Collaborate with the team to create and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training staff on the correct operation and shutdown of manufacturing equipment.
  • Contribute to the team in establishing best practices for cleaning manufacturing machinery.
  • Perform visual inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment to identify malfunctions prior to production, executing emergency repairs as necessary to maintain quality standards.
  • Actively participate in changeover processes.
  • Document and relay equipment concerns to management, remaining vigilant about equipment downtime.
  • Manage and organize spare parts inventory for all manufacturing machinery.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining specialized tools and kits for manufacturing equipment.
  • Oversee minor building maintenance while coordinating major repairs through external contractors.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for Material Handling Equipment with outside service providers.
  • Work alongside management to ensure compliance with annual third-party food safety audits.
  • Collaborate with management to strategize responses to equipment downtime during off-hours, which may include occasional weekend or evening work.
  • Comprehend the manufacturing workflow to prioritize repairs effectively.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience with automated equipment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with controls is essential.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude is required.
  • Experience with packaging equipment such as flow wrappers, cartoners, fillers, and printers is necessary.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving abilities, with a self-directed approach to work.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks as required.
  • Experience in the food manufacturing sector is a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, COP, and CIP systems is beneficial.
