Position Summary:

Reporting to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager, the Industrial Equipment Maintenance Specialist is tasked with the setup, installation, repair, and upkeep of production and manufacturing machinery within our new facility. This role includes conducting inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance and executing preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. The specialist will also diagnose equipment issues and implement necessary repairs or adjustments. It is essential that all work adheres to safety, quality, and legal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematic diagrams to install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and plumbing/electrical systems.
  2. Conduct visual and auditory inspections of operational equipment to identify malfunctions, wear, or misalignment, and assess used parts for dimensional changes.
  3. Collaborate with maintenance and production supervisors to discuss and diagnose machinery issues, and communicate equipment and parts requirements to management.
  4. Dismantle faulty machines and equipment, install new or repaired components, and conduct testing to ensure proper functionality.
  5. Perform cleaning and lubrication of machinery components, including shafts, bearings, and gears.
  6. Install and repair electrical systems, including transformers, wiring, and electronic components associated with machinery.
  7. Assemble, install, and maintain piping systems along with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair related components.
  8. Set up, program, and repair automated machinery, including robots and programmable controllers.
  9. Operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to fabricate or repair machine parts.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain the physical structure of the facility and perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  2. Assist production teams with change-over and setup procedures.
  3. Participate in scheduled safety training sessions.

Decision-Making & Problem-Solving: Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing production equipment, including industrial mixers, automated packaging systems, and hydraulic components.

Compliance with Standards: Ensure adherence to GMP and HACCP regulations, along with other relevant quality system requirements.

Safety Compliance: Uphold company safety policies and ensure safe operational practices within the maintenance department.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least five years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food production.
  • Certifications: OSHA 40 certification preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and mechanical troubleshooting abilities; familiarity with electrical systems and preventive maintenance practices.

Work Environment: Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, or weekends as necessary to complete tasks. Additional duties may be assigned as required.
