Job Description

Shapeways' digital manufacturing platform empowers customers to produce high-quality products through automation, innovation, and digitization. As a Jr. Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, serving, and operating our state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily production tasks, including cleaning and maintaining high-tech machinery
  • Service and troubleshoot equipment, set and execute periodic maintenance
  • Own machine uptime to reduce equipment failure, identify root causes, and implement preventative maintenance best practices
  • Identify, analyze, and implement improvement projects to enhance equipment performance and efficiency
  • Create and maintain documentation to enable effective knowledge transfer
  • Maintain and optimize spare part stock
  • Quality control execution and improvement (dimensional accuracy, strength testing)
  • Support team building, training, and coordination to ensure machine uptime and quality
  • Analyze and solve complex problems, providing detailed reports to support presentations and follow-up
  • Establish and maintain relationships with printer OEMs and Service Technicians

Requirements:

  • Vocational or Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (e.g., engineering, mechatronics)
  • 2+ years of work experience in technical support, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment
  • Understanding of KPI-driven performance and prioritization based on on-time delivery
  • Constructive team player with good social and communication skills
  • Mechanical-minded with an understanding of industrial 3D printer mechanics
  • Appetite for learning, teaching, and developing in the manufacturing space
  • Drive change and continuous improvement by taking the initiative and helping others
