Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified part-time affiliate faculty member to teach courses in Native American Studies at Metropolitan State University of Denver. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Native American Studies or a closely related field and experience teaching in higher education. The position is part-time, at-will, and contingent upon budget and enrollment.

Responsibilities

The affiliate faculty member will be responsible for teaching 3-9 credit hours in a variety of courses in our Native American Studies program, including Introduction to Native American Studies, Native American Politics, and Federal Indian Law. The instructor will be expected to deliver course content to students, prepare course materials and lesson plans, grade student work, and provide students with robust feedback in a timely manner. The instructor will also be responsible for maintaining office hours and complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.

Requirements

Master's degree in Native American Studies or a closely related field

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in Native American Studies or a closely related field; or JD plus experience in Native American law

Higher education teaching experience in Native American Studies

Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population including (but not limited to) students of color, LGBTQ+ students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English language learners
