Job Overview

The Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate II to join its research team. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the development of objective, non-partisan research that informs policy decisions in California.

As a Research Associate II, you will provide advanced analytical support to the Criminal Justice research group, focusing on evaluating policy reforms and prison programs in California, policing, and monitoring key criminal justice outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative and qualitative analysis, with experience working with large data sets and advanced knowledge of statistical software packages such as Stata, SAS, R, or Python.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently, translating research results into actionable insights for policymakers and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced statistical analysis and data visualization
  • Develop and maintain databases and data systems
  • Collaborate with senior research colleagues to design and implement research projects
  • Communicate research findings through written reports, presentations, and public speaking engagements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as criminology, economics, health, political science, public policy, or sociology
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical software packages and data analysis techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Benefits:
