Job Summary

The City of Arlington is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Animal Care Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Animal Services department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to the animals in our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide humane treatment and care for animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning of animal kennels, pens, and cages.
  • Ensure the health and safety of animals by monitoring for signs of disease and injury, and following established protocols to prevent the spread of disease.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, medical treatments, and behavioral observations.
  • Assist with the intake and processing of animals, including microchipping, vaccinating, and administering medications.
  • Perform humane euthanasia procedures in accordance with established protocols and laws.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record required.
  • Euthanasia Certification required within four months of employment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions

The Animal Care Technician will work in a fast-paced animal shelter environment, exposed to chemicals, dust, odor, zoonosis, parasites, mold, and aggressive animal hazards. The position requires the ability to work weekends, evenings, and after-hours as needed.
