Responsibilities and Requirements for the Bus Operator

  • Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring exceptional customer service delivery.
  • Safely navigate various bus types through city and freeway traffic with caution and skill.
  • Transport passengers courteously along designated routes, adhering to specified stops unless directed otherwise by dispatch.
  • Abide by all applicable federal, state, and local regulations regarding bus operation, traffic, and safety.
  • Deliver the highest standard of bus service to our clientele.
  • Assist customers in a friendly and helpful manner, including those with disabilities, ensuring safe boarding and alighting.
  • Promote safety awareness and adhere to safety protocols to minimize accidents.
  • Follow all company safety guidelines and operate vehicles to meet customer expectations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating all necessary equipment, including fareboxes, lifts, radios, and emergency tools.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections and complete the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) in compliance with FMCSR to confirm vehicle safety.
  • Relay detour, accident, and incident information to dispatch and respond to their instructions.
  • Make sound independent decisions and resolve conflicts based on safety, experience, and established policies.
  • Follow procedures for fare collection, processing, and passenger counting as required.
  • Report and appropriately follow up on all accidents or unusual incidents involving company vehicles.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Candidate must pass a DOT Physical examination.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Compensation and Benefits

Wellness Benefit: $4.60
Hourly Rate: $19.08 (with wellness: $23.68/HR)
Paid Training: $23.68/HR
Preferred Qualifications: CDL A or B with Airbrakes & Passenger Endorsement
