Job Title: Chief Financial Officer

The Department of Early Education and Care is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will be responsible for leading the financial management of the department, ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the achievement of our mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring alignment with our strategic plan and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide financial analysis and advice to support decision-making, including forecasting, financial modeling, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee the administration of grants, contracts, and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring the integrity and transparency of our financial operations.
  • Collaborate with program and policy staff to ensure the effective use of resources and the achievement of our mission.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in financial management, with a minimum of 4 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of state finance law and regulations, as well as federal grant management and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Experience with financial systems and software, including budgeting and forecasting tools.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a state government agency or similar environment.
