Housing Programs Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Housing Programs Specialist to join our team at the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services. As a key member of our housing team, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program duties, including application intake, eligibility determination, recertification of participants, and inspection of units to ensure compliance with Housing Quality Standards (HQS).

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HUD and Virginia Housing regulations, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. You will work closely with applicants, participants, landlords, and government agencies to ensure the successful implementation of the HCV Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage HCV Program duties, including application intake, eligibility determination, recertification of participants, and inspection of units.
  • Ensure compliance with HUD and Virginia Housing regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to applicants, participants, landlords, and government agencies.
  • Work closely with the housing team to ensure the successful implementation of the HCV Program.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field with one year of experience in housing eligibility and case management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HCV program policies and procedures.
  • Good clerical and administrative aptitude, organizational skills, and proficiency in mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work under pressure and with time restraints.
