About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician II to join our team at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals. As a key member of our Small Animal Community Practice, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the clinical and educational activities of our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to veterinarians and students in the examination and treatment of patients, including restraint, anesthesia, and surgical procedures.
  • Assist with patient receiving, organizing, and assisting with all technical aspects of patient care and procedures.
  • Run your own technician appointments and orient and instruct veterinary students, interns, and residents in technical skills and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other services and clinicians to offer high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter services at our Small Animal Community Practice.
  • Travel with the Cornell team to local shelters to work in collaboration with the Shelter Outreach Service (SOS) program.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in Veterinary Technology and up to 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • New York State licensure or eligibility to become licensed in NYS.
  • Ability to restrain cats and dogs appropriately and feel comfortable handling feral/fractious cats.
  • Valid driver's license and proficiency with record-keeping software currently in use by CUHA.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, deductive reasoning, and pattern recognition skills.
  • Willingness to meet the physical requirements of the position, including stressful circumstances, prolonged standing, and kneeling, and lifting heavy patients.
