Cardiovascular Support Specialist

Orlando Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiovascular Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Mechanical Circulatory Support program, you will play a critical role in coordinating and facilitating the care of patients with Ventricular Assist Devices, Cardiogenic Shock, and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) support.
Responsibilities- Conduct triage assessments of cardiogenic shock patients to determine the need for escalation of care and advanced therapies.
- Evaluate patients for Mechanical Circulatory Support/heart transplant candidacy and coordinate necessary testing and work-up.
- Provide timely and appropriate clinical advice and interventions to patients, including participation in outpatient VAD/Advanced Heart Failure clinic.
- Arrange medical therapy and testing, review lab results, and notify physicians of abnormalities.
- Document findings and interventions in patient medical records.
- Review and maintain Mechanical Circulatory Support policies, procedures, and manuals, ensuring compliance.
- Maintain program registry and statistics, assist with outcomes tracking, and collaborate on clinical trials and research projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Current Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Acute Care Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum three years of clinical experience, including two years in Cardiac ICU or three years in VAD StepDown Unit, VAD, and/or ECMO experience.
