Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with students, parents, and educational staff to formulate IEPs through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process. Design and execute instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for assigned students, ensuring thorough preparation documentation. Utilize appropriate teaching strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that cater to the diverse learning styles and requirements of students. Work in conjunction with general education teachers to adapt standard curricula and support special education students in mainstream classes. Regularly participate in ARD Committee meetings and contribute to community engagement through events such as open houses and PTA meetings. Consult with classroom teachers on managing student behavior in accordance with IEP guidelines. Conduct continuous assessments of student progress through both formal and informal evaluations; maintain comprehensive records and documentation. Create a supportive classroom environment that fosters learning and addresses the physical, social, and emotional growth of students. Manage student behavior and enforce discipline, including crisis intervention and physical restraint when necessary, as outlined in IEPs. Stay informed and comply with all relevant federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies governing special education.
