Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Whittier Rehab Hospital. As a key member of our Medical Care Evaluations department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the clinical appropriateness of patients admitted to our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assist in all aspects of the referral and admission process, ensuring that patients meet the necessary criteria for admission.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to render definitive clinical decisions and ensure that insurance pre-authorization requirements are met.
  • Assist in prioritizing referral assignments and provide accurate information to potential patients and referral sources regarding our rehabilitation services.
  • Complete pre-admission assessments and render definitive clinical decisions regarding patient suitability for our hospital's rehabilitation program.
  • Work closely with the Director to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with current Massachusetts license, BSN preferred; or Bachelors of Science in a health-related field; or Licensed Practical Nurse with 2+ years of clinical experience.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the admission process, including insurance verification and pre-certification.
  • Working knowledge of the insurance industry and its relation to the admissions process.
  • Ability to coordinate, manage, and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
