Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as an Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences and 4-H Youth Development in McCreary County. The successful candidate will provide leadership and management to the overall FCS and 4-H Youth Development program, developing and implementing a plan of work based on locally identified needs to improve the quality of living for families, youth, and individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement educational programs focusing on healthy choices, family nurturing, aging, financial stability, healthy homes and communities, nutritious food access, and community leadership empowerment.
  • Develop expertise and serve as a resource in family and consumer sciences programming areas, including food and nutrition, family resource management, human development and family relations, health and wellness, leadership development, clothing and textiles, housing and the environment, and home-based and micro business.
  • Develop and implement leadership programs, such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers and 4-H Leaders.
  • Collaborate with other agents to implement a well-rounded 4-H program that develops youth through school and community-based programs.
  • Utilize and/or develop councils, advisory groups, and committees in programming.
  • Facilitate community programming around issues involving leadership development, community involvement, local government, community services, and community economic development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with groups and individuals and through mass media.
  • Ability to use the computer for program delivery and management.
  • Ability to visit clientele at sites throughout the county.
  • Ability to plan and teach educational programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to serve as a positive role model.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in family and consumer sciences programming and leadership development.
  • Knowledge of community development and economic growth strategies.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and build partnerships with community organizations.
