Job Title: Sanitation Manager Overnight

Michael Foods, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Manager Overnight to join our team in Norwalk, Iowa. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for developing and directing sanitation activities at our Norwalk and Lenox facilities.

Job Summary:

The Sanitation Manager Overnight will work closely with our Sanitation Supervisors to ensure that our facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation principles, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement sanitation programs to ensure compliance with MFI, FSMA, and USDA regulations.
  • Provide oversight of sanitation activities and ensure that all personnel involved in sanitation procedures follow proper cleaning and sanitizing protocols.
  • Work with our chemical provider to address any identified corrective actions and ensure that all sanitation equipment is properly maintained.
  • Develop, validate, and verify SSOPs and work instructions to ensure that all sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Assist with applying wet cleaning techniques following the 7 Steps of Wet Sanitation process.
  • Knowledge of Clean in Place (CIP) and Clean Out of Place (COP) cleaning techniques.
  • Assist in managing sanitation aspects of construction events.
  • Demonstrate audit and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate as a technical subject matter expert during Food Safety and Quality Surveys, when responding to regulatory non-compliances, when evaluating sanitation vendors, and during third-party audits of sanitation practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Microbiology, Food Science/Food Technology or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in sanitation of a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Skills in identifying sanitation problems and providing workable solutions.
  • Must have a strong knowledge and understanding of Food Safety/HACCP/HARPC, GMP's, and Sanitary design/controls.
  • Strong continuous improvement knowledge.
  • Excellent computer skills in Office, SharePoint, SAP.
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours (weekends) as required.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in different plant locations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
