Role Overview:
The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all suppliers provide high-quality components, materials, and services. This role involves the following key responsibilities:
- Supplier Evaluation: Assess and qualify suppliers in accordance with organizational standards, potentially managing a Certified Supplier Program to optimize receiving inspections.
- Quality Monitoring: Oversee the quality of parts from procurement through the entire manufacturing process, promptly addressing and resolving any supplier-related issues.
- Collaborative Relationships: Foster strong partnerships with suppliers to swiftly tackle any instances of non-conformance.
- Root Cause Analysis: Lead thorough investigations into quality issues with suppliers, ensuring that corrective actions are taken and monitored for effectiveness.
- Preventative Measures: Collaborate with the supply chain to implement corrective and preventative actions based on insights from incoming inspections, internal quality metrics, and customer feedback.
- Test Plans and Reports: Review and prepare documentation for testing plans and reports related to supplier qualifications, material changes, and special processes performed by suppliers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operational teams to resolve issues and achieve alignment when necessary.
- Component Engineering Collaboration: Partner with Component Engineers to establish and execute the Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy, manage the Approved Supplier List, and implement Supplier Owned Quality initiatives.
- Inspection Requirements: Define and validate receiving inspection criteria and associated testing methods for all internal quality assessments.
- Process Qualification: Lead the execution of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with suppliers, ensuring comprehensive process qualification and validation through Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) methodologies.
- Supplier Audits: Conduct regular audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards.
