Job Title: Controls Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our team at FirstElement Fuel. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex industrial controls engineering solutions, working closely with our engineering team to ensure the successful implementation of our hydrogen fuel cell technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop PLC code and data structures for control of various industrial systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines to develop control narratives and ensure PLC architecture and hardware align with electrical design and specifications.
  • Create, review, or modify electrical schematics, drawings, and I/O lists to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting of applied programming at ground-up or existing stations.
  • Troubleshoot PLC code, identify problems/bugs, and implement resolution in controlled or field environments.
  • Work with our engineering team to develop electrical, instrumentation, and controls products and systems to satisfy unique customer specifications, contracts, and new business development.
  • Submit status reports to management on progress of assigned projects.
  • Assist Field Service Technicians as necessary in equipment tests, assembly, installation, and set-up activities to ensure components and systems are performing to engineering design standards and supplier specifications.

Requirements:

  • Experience programming to IEC 61131-3.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with controls programming and narratives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient typist.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
  • Ability to work with multiple disciplines.
  • Exhibit excellent documentation practices.
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage equipment, including motors, relays, compressors, and PLCs.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including 4-20mA systems, pressure transducers, valves, electronic and air-operated valves, control valves, and PLC logic.
  • Knowledge of various PLC I/O cards and their application.
