Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide navigation services to patients participating in cancer screening programs
  • Deliver nursing interventions to assigned patients, consistent with stated medical plans of care
  • Schedule patients' appointments, tests, and procedures via online computer systems or telephone
  • Reinforce physician instructions in person and through telephone contact
  • Provide patient education and document patient responses in medical records
  • Ensure appropriate patient consent and authorization for research and/or medical treatment
  • Triage patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols
  • Provide working supervision and delegate tasks to licensed vocational nurses, non-licensed medical staff, or office support personnel
  • Participate in the recommendation of policy and/or procedural changes according to nursing expertise
Requirements
  • Associate degree (BSN preferred)
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience, oncology experience preferred
  • Licensure as Registered Nurse by Board of Nurse Examiners for State of Texas
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Certification in one of the clinical areas offered by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) required within 24 months of employment
