Relationship Banker

Newburyport Bank is seeking a skilled Relationship Banker to join our team. As a key member of our banking team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, building relationships with new and existing customers, and promoting our products and services.

• Provide superior customer service and support to customers, responding to their financial needs and inquiries.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, identifying their financial needs and making referrals to other colleagues and departments as needed.
• Meet performance goals consistently, actively promoting products and services to add value and create customer awareness.
• Participate in all Bank-wide incentive programs and business development initiatives.
• Process a variety of transactions with minimal or no errors, including accepting checks for cash and deposit, processing payments for loans and other services, and maintaining necessary logs and processing mailed deposits.
• Issue money orders and official checks, process coin, and order customer checks according to Newburyport Bank policies and procedures, assessing appropriate fees for all services.
• Verify all transactions, place holds when appropriate, and balance cash drawer upon completion of assigned shift to ensure compliance.
• Open new Consumer and Business accounts, Certificates of Deposit, and all other ancillary products offered by the bank, answering customer questions and ensuring that proper paperwork is completed and entered on the system.
• Assist with ATM-related issues and daily ATM balancing procedures.
• Aid with verification of incoming and outgoing cash shipments.
• Perform security functions by opening and closing Bank and Vault, ensuring overall safety and security of Bank grounds.
• Maintain customer confidentiality and retention of bank documents in accordance with Newburyport Bank policies.

• Minimum of high school education or equivalent in addition to 3+ years of retail or customer service experience, preferably in a teller and or customer service role, or equivalent combination of both.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and comfortable with utilizing internet-based applications.
• Basic understanding and aptitude for math, working with numbers and cash handling.
• Demonstrated aptitude for Customer Service, and comfort level with verbal and written communications, detail orientation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as requested.

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
