Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Designer to join our team at Talbots. As a Technical Designer, you will be responsible for executing design aesthetic, fit, and production-ready construction of samples. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to drive results and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process seasonal technical developments to execute design aesthetic, fit, and production-ready construction of samples.
  • Conduct fit sessions and maintain clear direction and communication of fit comments with garment specs, diagrams, and photos to agency/vendors for fit approval.
  • Implement consistent size and fit standards, grade rules/tolerances, construction, and quality standards.
  • Deliver on-time execution of production-ready technical specification packages and ensure all styles, fits, construction, and specs meet standards of feasibility, costing, and appropriateness for the brand.
  • Manage all communication relating to the fit process, including fit trackers and updates to technical logs and fit lists.
  • Engage in daily communication and follow-up with Agency/CFT teams for all technical-related processes.
  • Meet deadlines by partnering with cross-functional teams and vendors/agencies to drive results.
  • Assist with general daily task management based on need within the Technical Division.
  • Participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings, as appropriate.
  • Sample tracking and shipping.
Requirements
  • Fashion-associated degree and/or 2-4 years of experience with a manufacturer or production department.
  • Technical Design or pattern-making degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of measuring and flat sketching, knowledge of garment construction, pattern making a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to take on initiatives.
  • Build collaborative relationships across departments and divisions – must be a team player.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer spec writing in PLM, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Strong detail orientation, self-motivated team player with superior interpersonal skills.

The target salary range for this role is: $34-$36/per hour.

This position works in a hybrid model, with 3-4 days per week worked in our NYC office.
