Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Accounting Associate I to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for processing financial transactions in accordance with state and university policy and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payment.
  • Obtain necessary documentation and certifications to support financial transactions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions.
  • Provide backup support for related positions and contribute to the success of the office.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fiscal/administrative assistant experience in a high-volume business environment.
  • Data entry experience.
  • Experience interpreting and applying organizational policies and procedures.
  • Experience applying accounting principles.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Finance systems.
  • Experience working with electronic procurement systems.
  • Experience using automated workflow and imaging systems.
