About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Transmission Line Designer to join our team at Sargent & Lundy. As a key member of our Electric Grid Infrastructure Services group, you will play a critical role in the design and development of transmission line drawings and designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop transmission line plans and profile drawings, transmission/distribution line hardware details, material lists, and grounding details.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to interpret input from various sources, including engineering specifications, weight and volume calculations, and stress factors.
  • Accompany and assist project team members on walkdowns at client facilities to gather information for design projects.
  • Interface with vendors and construction contractors to explain drawings and make design adjustments as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • At least 5 years of experience in design/drafting of transmission lines.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Microstation, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or GIS software.
