Job Summary:
The Policy and Procedure Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the business control functions of the Global Capital Markets (GCM) division at M&T Bank. This position will be responsible for managing existing policies and procedures, identifying new areas for improvement, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency and standardization across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive portfolio of policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
Partner with technology and transformation teams to ensure changes to the operating model and processes are reflected in policies and procedures.
Identify and address material gaps or inconsistencies between procedures and day-to-day business practices, collaborating with risk and business stakeholders to close these gaps.
Oversee the taxonomy of business controls across the value chain, ensuring controls included in procedures align with what is documented in compliance systems.
Work closely with the M&T Bank Policies team to understand applicable policies and identify gaps, drafting and implementing GCM-specific policies in consultation with legal, compliance, and risk teams.
Participate in M&T Bank-level policy review projects and calls, providing GCM inputs and communicating M&T Bank-level changes to GCM business product leaders, working closely with the Change Management team.
Represent GCM in internal or external audits, providing procedures or policy-related documents for audit examinations and handling any queries associated with the examination.
Collaborate with compliance, operations, legal, and various product leaders to obtain feedback on changes to regulations or processes, performing impact analysis on existing policies and procedures.
Support other business control tasks as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with audit concentration preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including corporate trust experience with an excellent understanding of its products and processes.
Strong writing skills and prior experience drafting, editing, and publishing policies or procedures.
Ability to reach out to various owners of processes and operations to receive feedback on changes to update procedures.
Exam management experience, working with auditors and examiners, is preferred.
Experience scheduling and coordinating meetings, circulating minutes, and following up on actions.
Well-organized to manage a calendar of upcoming reviews and ability to plan well in advance required.
Ability to multitask and experience interacting with all levels of personnel, or ability to build relationships with management and business partners.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation:
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $91,061.75 - $151,769.58 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
