Automation Systems Engineer

HOJ Innovations is in search of a dedicated and meticulous Automation Systems Engineer. This role involves assisting in the conception and enhancement of automation systems tailored for industrial material handling applications. The Automation Systems Engineer will comprehend the technical, operational, and client needs that influence the creation of effective technical solutions. In this capacity, you will engage in all stages of the product development process, which includes analysis, specification development, layout design, control schematics, PLC programming, and installation assistance. Furthermore, you will provide support for existing systems through both scheduled maintenance and urgent service interventions. Collaboration with a team of engineers and system technicians will be essential to address complex site modifications, deliver support solutions for equipment installation, and ensure HOJ Innovations consistently provides outstanding customer value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate PLC and HMI applications
  • Diagnose electrical challenges, including but not limited to PLCs, various motion control systems, multi-axis servos, SCADA frameworks, AC/DC drives, electronics, PLC to PC communication systems, pneumatic systems, and photoelectric/laser control devices
  • Resolve electrical installation issues related to controls and motor components of moderate complexity.
  • Conduct on-site commissioning to implement and verify system designs
  • Proactively seek solutions to unexpected challenges and contribute significantly with minimal guidance
  • Assist the existing install base with scheduled maintenance assessments and urgent service to troubleshoot and rectify control errors or failures.
  • Prepare schematics and specifications for control panel manufacturing
  • Facilitate electrical installation by coordinating with electrical contractors
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of programming experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a keen attention to detail; capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
  • Experience with Beckhoff IPCs and programming
  • Familiarity with Ignition by Inductive Automation
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (TCP/IP, REST, etc.) is advantageous
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required
