About the Role

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a skilled Locksmith to join our Facilities Services team. As a Locksmith, you will be responsible for providing technical support in the installation, repair, and maintenance of locks and security systems to our teams and the University at large.

Key Responsibilities
  • Door preparation, installation of locks, exit devices, door closers, electronic hardware, and associated devices
  • Repairing and providing preventative maintenance to doors, locks, exit devices, and key fabrication
  • Communicating clearly with campus departments, contractors, and design consultants
  • Effectively interacting with a diverse professional staff in a busy environment
  • Reading, writing, and performing basic arithmetic calculations and reports
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings and door schedules
  • Handling multiple projects simultaneously and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of locking devices and master key systems
  • Demonstrated ability to understand written and oral instructions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes
  • Analyzing problems, determining solutions, and making decisions based on analysis
Requirements
  • High school graduate
  • Two (2) years of experience at the operational level in an appropriate craft
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reports
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and door schedules
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of locking devices and master key systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • University and/or Medical Center experience
