Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Locksmith Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for door preparation, installation of locks, exit devices, door closers, electronic hardware, and associated devices, repairing, and providing preventative maintenance to doors, locks, exit devices, and key fabrication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support in the installation, repair, and maintenance of locks and security systems.
  • Perform door preparation, installation of locks, exit devices, door closers, electronic hardware, and associated devices.
  • Repair and provide preventative maintenance to doors, locks, exit devices, and key fabrication.
  • Communicate clearly with campus departments, contractors, and design consultants.
  • Interact effectively with a diverse professional staff in a busy environment.
  • Read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reports.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and door schedules.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate theoretical and working knowledge of locking devices and master key systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand written and oral instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes.
  • Analyze problems, determine solutions, and make decisions based on analysis.
Requirements
  • High school graduate.
  • Two (2) years of experience at the operational level in an appropriate craft.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reports.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and door schedules.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of locking devices and master key systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand written and oral instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes.

Preferred Qualifications
