Responsibilities:


As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and repair of various systems on vehicles and machinery, focusing on heavy equipment such as yellow iron machinery and diesel trucks.

Your role will involve not only understanding maintenance and repair needs but also operating the machinery you service. You may be required to respond to emergency breakdowns on occasion.


Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Utilizing advanced knowledge to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on heavy machinery.
  • Conducting routine maintenance and repairs as assigned.
  • Estimating time and material costs for vehicle repairs and managing parts requisition.
  • Performing safety inspections on vehicles.
  • Completing necessary documentation using fleet maintenance software for repairs and part usage.
  • Reviewing and addressing repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company safety protocols and OSHA standards.

This position does not involve direct reports but requires collaboration with fellow mechanics across different shifts. You will also assist senior technicians with project work.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.


Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Minimum age of 18 and legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the sanitation or construction industry is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with computer diagnostics as a diesel technician is preferred.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing DPF systems and diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar.
  • Knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in English to communicate effectively with colleagues and complete necessary documentation.
  • Ability to meet the physical and safety demands of the role.
  • Must provide own tools.

USD $26.00/Hr.
