Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of various construction machinery and mechanical systems, including trucks, trailers, batch plants, and other essential equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, ensuring efficient and cost-effective repairs.
- Disassemble machinery to access and replace faulty components using appropriate tools.
- Conduct maintenance on heavy machinery and vehicles across the organization.
- Perform routine services such as oil changes, lubrication, and fluid checks, adhering to preventative maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems, as well as diesel and gasoline engines.
- Manage inventory by ordering necessary parts and maintaining accurate records.
- Adjust and install functional components in machinery.
- Test equipment performance post-repair.
- Execute welding tasks for broken parts and structural components.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- One to two years of relevant experience in mechanical repair.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents and manuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, climbing, and handling of equipment.
- Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision.
Work Environment
- Exposure to various weather conditions and moderate to loud noise levels.
