Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Plant Operator to join our team at the Orange County Sanitation District. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant equipment to ensure efficient and effective waste treatment processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain plant equipment, including engines, motors, boilers, compressors, and pumps
  • Monitor and control unit processes to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines
  • Perform adjustments and repairs to plant equipment, collect samples for laboratory testing, and perform minor maintenance tasks
  • Provide technical direction and assistance to plant operators and operators in training
  • Assist with training of staff and act as shift supervisor in the absence of the Operations Supervisor
Requirements
  • Three (3) years of increasingly experience in wastewater treatment plant operations
  • Possession of a valid Grade III California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Certificate
  • Possession of a valid California class C driver's license
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment principles, methods, chemicals, tools, equipment, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and other departments, both orally and in writing
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, heights, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes, dust, and air contaminants.
