Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer 7- Geothermal Discipline Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer 7- Geothermal Discipline Lead to join our team at CDM Smith. As a key member of our geotechnical team, you will be responsible for leading and executing geothermal projects, providing technical expertise, and collaborating with our sales team to drive growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise for geothermal projects, including design, planning, and execution.
  • Collaborate with our sales team to identify and showcase our technical differentiators to drive growth.
  • Lead teams to create engineering designs, including geothermal systems master planning & studies, conceptual and basis of design technical documents, and detailed design of geothermal heating and cooling systems.
  • Design systems of moderate to high complexity to meet client requirements, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform site assessments, modeling, and studies to ensure designs are aligned with industry standards and local requirements.
  • Recruit, retain, and mentor technical employees, and collaborate with other discipline leaders to cultivate innovative solutions and technologies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining, or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • At least 12 years of related experience, with domestic and/or international travel required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering emphasis or Engineering Geology/Mining Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in state of residence.
  • Working knowledge of FLAC 2D/3D or Plaxis 2D/3D.
  • Experience in trenchless design, tunnels, or geo-environmental projects.
