Operating Room Nurse Leader

Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Operating Room Charge Nurse to lead the planning, organization, and directing of the operating room at our busy, multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center. As a member of our leadership team, you will be instrumental in setting the tone for the facility and directing and developing the staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise all clinical activities of the OR to facilitate optimal flow of patient care and safety
  • Coordinate surgery scheduling with Administrator/Business Office for optimal OR flow
  • Work with the Administrator and OR personnel to ensure adequate staffing
  • Coordinate orientation of new employees
  • Investigate and resolve complaints
  • Ensure that Standard Universal Precautions, the National Patient Safety Goals, and principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately
  • Participate in review and revision of the policies and procedures at the Surgery Center
  • Direct the hiring, selection, performance reviews, and training of medical personnel for the operating room
  • Call on physicians to solicit their participation in the surgery center
  • Coordinate with Materials Management to ensure proper instrumentation and special requests are available as needed
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Current license as a FL Registered Nurse
  • Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • At least five years supervisory experience in ambulatory surgery preferred
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and communications skills
  • Strong clinical skills and the ability to react decisively in critical situations
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Staff Nurse are required for this position
  • Must be able to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new programs on PC
  • Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and values of the Center
  • Solid knowledge of accreditation processes and CMS Guidelines
  • Ability to strengthen and support our current Quality Improvement Program
