Fitness Program Manager

About the Role:

The Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for designing and implementing full-scale fitness programs for athletes at Akron Children's. This includes developing exercise routines and nutritional intake plans, supervising exercise sessions, and tracking athlete progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe training, practice, and performance to assess strengths and weaknesses and design programs accordingly.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate athlete records to track progress and communicate with coaches.
  • Design and perform baseline tests to assess athlete skills and weaknesses.
  • Work cooperatively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide high-quality care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding exercise routines and provide instruction for home use.
  • Promote further education and quality of care through observation, demonstration, and feedback sessions.
  • Evaluate students at midterm and final on a formal written basis.
  • Coordinate schedules for students, including observation opportunities and surgeries.
  • Orient, supervise, and assist unlicensed personnel and volunteers as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office or similar software is required.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science or related degree.
  • Certification: Personal Trainer or CSCS certification from a recognized organization.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support training from the American Heart Association is required.

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position with a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends. The Strength and Conditioning Coach will work onsite at Akron Children's.
