Position Overview:
A Commercial Portfolio Manager (CPM) plays a pivotal role in overseeing established commercial banking relationships. This includes the management and underwriting of both credit and non-credit offerings available within the commercial banking sector. While the CPM is not primarily tasked with acquiring new business, they are encouraged to explore new opportunities under the mentorship of the Division Manager or Director. Exceptional customer service and robust credit underwriting capabilities are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage existing commercial relationships, which may involve identifying new business prospects, renewing credit facilities, ensuring accurate risk assessments, and monitoring compliance with covenants.
- Negotiate terms for credit extensions, including costs, repayment methods, schedules, and collateral requirements.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of non-credit products, engaging with clients to identify opportunities that facilitate better cash flow management.
- Conduct all necessary portfolio management tasks, including monitoring financial reporting and compliance with covenants.
- Stay updated on compliance training and adhere to all regulatory requirements, including Know Your Customer and Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
- Establish trust with clients by maintaining current knowledge of their business and industry trends.
- Prepare and present loan proposals to Credit Administration and Senior Loan Committees as required.
- Act as a liaison for both borrowing and non-borrowing clients regarding additional banking services.
- Support the training and development of Banking Officers, Loan Coordinators, and Credit Analysts.
- Complete special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Education and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; completion of coursework in finance, accounting, and real estate analysis or equivalent training in commercial banking.
- Experience in negotiation, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a diverse clientele.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly WORD, PowerPoint, and EXCEL; familiarity with LaserPro (CFI) is preferred.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Credit Analyst or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of commercial lending terminology, loan processing, and documentation.
