Position Overview:

This recruitment aims to create an 18-month eligibility list for filling current and future positions. The application period may close without prior notice.

Under general supervision, this role involves skilled tasks of moderate to significant complexity in building maintenance, encompassing areas such as electrical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, plumbing, and other related responsibilities as assigned. This is a competitive classification.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of journey-level experience in HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanics.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
May necessitate working in various challenging environments, including confined spaces, elevated heights, and extreme temperatures, both indoors and outdoors, to fulfill job responsibilities.
Work may involve alternate schedules, including holidays, weekends, and evenings as per assigned duties.
Responsibilities may require frequent bending or stooping, standing for extended periods, and working in small, confined areas.
Ability to move objects weighing over fifty (50) pounds over considerable distances (more than 20 feet) is essential.
Handling cleaning fluids, chemicals, paints, and similar substances while using appropriate protective gear is required.
The primary functions of this role are conducted in a public building setting, which may involve working on rooftops and in adverse weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to harsh desert climates during summer months.

Additional Requirements:
May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work areas to perform urgent repairs on buildings or equipment during off-duty hours.
Travel, including overnight stays, may be necessary to various locations within the State for job duties.
Timely response to emergency situations to effect immediate repairs is crucial.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
Applicants must complete an examination process. A polygraph and background investigation are mandatory for successful candidates. The organization promotes a drug-free workplace through pre-employment drug testing.
If driving or vehicle use is essential for job functions, the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements. All newly hired State employees must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
