Role of the Registered Nurse:
The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering patient care that ensures the safety and welfare of all individuals under their care. In a Charge Nurse capacity, the RN will manage staff assignments as required. This role includes providing guidance and support to LPNs, CNAs, and other non-licensed staff, delivering direct patient care, facilitating the orientation of new employees, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to address patient needs.
Operational Coordination: The RN will assist in managing the nursing unit's operations during their shift, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, in compliance with the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act.
Communication Skills: Proficiency in both verbal and written communication is essential. The RN must be adept at using a personal computer and capable of standing and walking for extended periods. The role requires the ability to lift, push, bend, and carry loads up to 50 pounds, as well as the capability to lift and reposition patients.
Emotional Resilience: The RN must maintain focus and concentration despite frequent interruptions and demonstrate emotional maturity to function effectively in high-stress situations.
Educational Requirements: Candidates must be graduates of an accredited School of Professional Nursing, with a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience: Ideal candidates will possess at least one year of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting, with a preference for those with Radiologic experience.
Licensure and Certifications: The RN must be registered and licensed in the State of Georgia, with current CPR certification or completion of a CPR course (AHA) within 60 days of employment. ACLS certification is required within 90 days of employment, and PALS certification is preferred.
Work Environment: The RN should be capable of effective communication, proficient in computer use, and able to manage physical demands associated with patient care, including lifting and moving patients while maintaining concentration in a dynamic environment.
