Role Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Community Engagement, the Director of Community Learning & Development will be a key player in our dynamic team.

The Director will oversee the strategic planning, execution, and assessment of educational and developmental initiatives at Yoga Alliance. This role is crucial in upholding high standards for yoga instruction and supporting the professional advancement of the yoga community. The Director will ensure that credentialing processes are stringent and that ongoing educational opportunities are comprehensive, thereby enhancing the overall quality and credibility of the yoga profession.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of managers and staff, providing constructive feedback and conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with various departments to meet organizational objectives.
  • Innovate and sustain the effectiveness of YA's community learning and development through:

Program Development and Management:

  • Design programs that prepare yoga instructors and trainers for certification and recertification.
  • Create training modules, continuing education courses, and specialized workshops for ongoing professional growth.
  • Provide continuous professional development opportunities to enhance community skills and knowledge.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and retreats on advanced topics and emerging trends in yoga.

Standards Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure alignment of credentialing programs with YA standards and guidelines.
  • Stay informed on industry regulations and best practices to maintain high training and credentialing standards.

Certification:

  • Oversee the certification and recertification processes for yoga instructors and trainers, ensuring compliance with necessary criteria.
  • Develop and maintain certification requirements and assessment tools to evaluate competencies.
  • Incorporate feedback from subject matter experts and industry trends into curriculum enhancements.

Educational Resource Development:

  • Create educational materials, including manuals, online courses, and instructional videos to support yoga professionals.
  • Utilize technology to improve learning experiences through Learning Management Systems (LMS) and online platforms.

Collaboration and Community Engagement:

  • Work with the yoga community to promote YA's credentialing and professional development programs.
  • Encourage community building through networking events, forums, and other engagement activities.

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage a team involved in delivering credentialing and professional development programs.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Research and Innovation:

  • Conduct research on educational methodologies and industry trends to enhance credentialing and professional development programs.
  • Implement new technologies and strategies to improve the learning experience for yoga teaching and practice.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years in educational program planning and management, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
  • 4+ years in credentialing, accreditation, and course evaluation.
  • Strong confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, judgment, problem-solving, project management, and public speaking skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, diverse, remote work environment.
  • Proficient in technology and quick to learn new platforms.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with international products.
  • Background in associations.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems.
