Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pastry Cook to join our team at Zuma - Boston. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for creating an array of pastries, desserts, and baked goods that delight our guests and elevate their dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and production of a diverse range of pastries, desserts, and baked goods, following recipes and guidelines established by the Head Pastry Chef.
  • Execute precise measurements and techniques to ensure consistency and quality in all pastry creations.
  • Prepare and assemble components for plated desserts, including sauces, creams, garnishes, and accompaniments.
  • Bake, decorate, and finish pastries and desserts with attention to detail and presentation standards.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations during service.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures as instructed by kitchen management.
  • Uphold Zuma - Boston's commitment to quality, excellence, and guest satisfaction in every aspect of food preparation.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role in a high-volume restaurant or hotel environment.
  • Solid understanding of pastry techniques, including mixing, baking, piping, and decorating.
  • Knowledge of pastry ingredients, flavors, and flavor combinations.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Culinary degree or relevant culinary training is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; Ability to stand for prolong periods of time and climb steps regularly.
  • Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
