Valor Healthcare, Inc is seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician to join our team at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center in North Carolina.

Job Summary

This is a 52-week assignment with a high chance of extension or conversion to a permanent position. As a Primary Care Physician, you will diagnose and treat diseases and injuries of human internal organ systems, delivering preventive and therapeutic treatment of primary care needs, including chronic disease management, to patients through routine physical examination testing and non-invasive treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Actively diagnose and treat veterans, examining them for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders, determining the nature and extent of injury or disorder, performing comprehensive physical examinations, referring to diagnostic images and tests, and using medical instruments and equipment to document all medical information into the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Develop and implement patient management plans, assisting in provision of continuity of care, ordering and performing diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests, etc., interpreting test results for deviations from normal, providing patient notification and follow-up care, prescribing medication, and recommending dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
  • Refers patients to the VA medical specialist when indicated, counsels patients on the use of prescription medications, educates patients, assesses mental health issues, and provides routine health maintenance, evaluating patient records from medical providers outside the VA, working with these patients utilizing rules set forth by the VA for co-managed care.
  • Completes clinical reminders due at the time of each patient visit, documents the medical record within twenty-four hours of a patient encounter, solicits medical management consult or input when appropriate, complies with all VA guidelines in regard to timely response to patient requests, alerts, and notifications, consults, orders, lab results, and diagnostic studies.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in family medicine or internal medicine.
  • 5 years of chronic disease management experience after residency training.
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a physician in any state.
  • Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Preventive Medicine.
  • Must comply with and maintain all requirements for a valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment, or in any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support, must be renewed periodically as specified by the AHA, and in ACLS if specified by individual VAMC contract.
  • Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
  • Annual PPD test.
  • Must be compliant with federal, state, local government, or contract-specific vaccine mandates and/or requirements.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent computer skills.
Benefits

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range estimated at $250,000 - $300,000 per year, contingent upon client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.
